It is the very first full day of our Miniwanca summer and we are off and running! The campers awoke to the sounds of the bell ringing out over our forested dunes and greeted a bright and beautiful Miniwanca morning. Their first stop of the day was a Morning Stretch in the Hollow led by the Odyssey campers on the topic of preparation. After raising the flag and a moment of reflection, everyone filed into breakfast awake and ready for the day.

After a yummy continental breakfast, both Girls and Boys Camps went through the ‘Fun, Safe, Summer’ rotations and they learned the ins and outs of this place we love so much. Throughout these rotations, we all went down to Stony Lake for swim checks at the waterfront and the cabins took their cabin photos with surrounded by new friends.

After such a packed morning we scarfed down a delicious lunch of grilled cheese and tomato soup, followed by a much needed rest hour. The LITs woke everybody up with a hilarious Assembly filled with skits and songs getting everyone ready for their very first Interest Groups.

With Interest Group time was upon us, we headed out for Stony Lake paddle sports, Pottery, Bracelet Making, and more! All the campers were able to stretch their four folds with a wide variety of activities. Free time began, and campers rushed down to Lake Michigan to swim, the Hollow for games, and the Crafthouse to make bracelets and crafts.

After dinner, Girls Camp participated in Wacky Olympics for Night’s Doings, a fun and interactive event where the cabin groups moved through different mini-games and challenges. To end the night, the campers proceeded to move into some reflective activities with Evening Reflection on the beach led by the LITs. Everyone hurried off to bed, exhausted from the busy day but very excited for what tomorrow has in store.
