Looking for the chance to visit Miniwanca or Merrowvista and contribute to the mission of the AYF? Come to a Volunteer Weekend where you will meet other participants while helping us to open the sites for the coming season.

These free weekends are the perfect opportunity to bring your family to camp and to share the magic with new friends. You will experience a true camp weekend, including meals, activities and a Council Circle, along with the opportunity to volunteer raking, building, repairing, and cleaning. Whether or not you have been a part of the AYF community before, all are welcome to Volunteer Weekends so join the fun and help make a difference at Miniwanca and Merrowvista.

Come and join us for Miniwanca’s Alumni and Volunteer Weekend! All are welcome as we spend time playing games, meeting new friends and giving a day of service to our site. On Saturday we will rake, dig, repair and rebuild together as we help prepare Miniwanca for the thousands of youth who visit us each year. Events throughout weekend include delicious meals, the first polar bear swim of the year, family friendly activities and an opportunity to challenge yourself on our climbing tower! You provide the help and we will provide the housing, food and the fun!


Canceled for 2020

Join us at Merrowvista's annual Volunteer Weekend! We will spend Friday evening connecting with old friends and making new ones by playing games and preparing for the next day of service. Saturday will focus on service to the site. we will clean, rake, dig, paint, repair and replace to help prepare this beautiful place for the thousands of participants who will be in the valley this year. Our day will conclude with a delicious meal and celebratory Council fire. Sunday will offer time to reflect on the weekend and optional hiking activities for those wishing to stay.

Who can come to volunteer?

Anyone! Former or current campers, staff, interns, or CSP participants as well as children, parents, and friends are all welcome. If you want to help, we want you here! Attendees under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

What kind of work will we be doing?

You’ll be able to choose from among a variety of different volunteer jobs to sign up for. These might include restoring eroded portions of the trail to the ledge, raking leaves, gardening, painting signs and general repair work. We will also offer several kid-friendly activities.

How many hours of work are involved?

We will work on Saturday morning from 9am-12pm, take a break for lunch, and then finish up from 1pm-4pm in the afternoon. The rest of the weekend will be filled with games, socializing, free time with an open waterfront for boating and swimming, Council fire, and a reflection on service.

How much does this weekend cost?

FREE. You provide transportation and service and we will provide housing and food for the weekend, including dinner on Friday evening, three meals on Saturday, and breakfast on Sunday.

Can children come?

Yes! This is a family oriented weekend. There will be projects available for every age group!

What paperwork do I need to submit?

If you have completed the online registration form, including the Acknowledgment of Risk statement, you’re all set! If you’re unable to access online registration, please e-mail or call Merrowvista or Miniwanca before arriving for the weekend.
