Aloha! A lot has happened in the Canaan Valley in the last few days. On Friday, the two week campers participated in wish day on their last day of camp. For wish day, campers got to choose one more activity to do in camp before they went home. Many camper wishes included climbing the high ropes challenge course, swimming across Dan Hole Pond, and making tie dye t-shirts. The day concluded with singing at the two week grand council after a great picnic dinner with camper families and friends. We miss the two week campers already and can’t wait for their return in the summer of 2017!
While the two week session was coming to an end, the three and four week villages were out on grand adventures. Three week pioneer villages Tri-Pyramid, Canaan, and Mahoosuc went on their overnight hiking camping trips. All three villages had a great time cooking pita pizzas for dinner and roasting s’mores by a late night camp fire that they built.
The trailblazers were also out of camp on their second overnight trip of the session. Little Haystack, Carter Dome, and Sentinel lived up to their name as they blazed the trails of Castle and the Clouds featuring Mt. Roberts and through the Kinsman Range of the White Mountains. Meanwhile, Lincoln and Lafayette village explored the water ways of Newfound Lake by canoe and spent their night resting peacefully under the stars on their own private island.
We were so happy to welcome all of the three and four week pioneer and trailblazer villages back into camp and to have a full eating lodge once again for dinner on Saturday. Last night, the campers were able to relax after their long trips, enjoying an outdoor “drive-in” movie amid a cool evening breeze while snuggled in sleeping bags. Many more exciting things to come later this week as the Four Fold Tournament will soon begin and we will start to welcome back home our Four Trail campers!
