Miniwanca Younger Boys Camp alums Mark Drew and John Drew of Daniel & Henry Co. have been proud sponsors of the Donald Danforth Jr. Memorial Golf Tournament since 2002. This event, celebrating our past board president, takes place each spring to raise funds for Miniwanca and Merrowvista camper scholarships.

Mark Drew said the annual golf tournament is a must-do event for his family and friends.

“Most importantly, it’s a great way to raise money to help send kids to a world-class camp. But a close second is that it’s such a fun event!” he said. “A competitive round of golf (played quickly) on a great golf course followed by cocktails and appetizers. For our family, it’s a perfect afternoon.”

This summer, the fourth generation of the Drew family will attend Miniwanca.

“Even for those not attending camp, it’s heaven-sent,” John Drew said. “When my brothers and I were away at Miniwanca in the ’60s, our mother would say it was the happiest two weeks of her year!”

This year’s golf tournament takes place at Algonquin Golf Club on Monday, May 4. The event includes a grab-and-go lunch and begins with a shotgun start at noon.
