With only a handful of campers left in Girls Camp, the morning was quiet and peaceful as everyone slept in until breakfast where everyone chowed on Wanca Bread, applesauce, and other tasty options. The calm continued into a time for meditation and reflection in a quiet spot before gathering for Something Sacred.
Energy began to rise as time ticked closer to the opening of the gates. At lunch campers enjoyed chicken tenders and potato fries. Rest Hour was virtually impossible as new campers began to move into their cabins. The excitement was too much!
Campers new and old were welcomed into Miniwanca by their cabins leaders. New friends and old friends were instantly made and reunited as everyone met in the Hollow and around the Cabins. Once most everyone was checked in, cabin groups made their way to the Waterfront for Swim Checks! Everyone got to jump in, splash, and swim in Stony Lake! Then, everyone had free time to get to know everyone and work on their cabin skit for Opening Council.
The dinner bell sounded and campers found their cabin groups in the Eating Lodge to have spaghetti, garlic bread, and vegetables! Oh, and some delicious spice cake for dessert! Once all the food was eaten, campers were recharged, and the Eating Lodge was cleaned, the in-camp campers signed up for their Interest Groups for the week! Options include Paddle Sports, High Ropes, Archery, Glitter and Girl Power, Crafthouse Medley, Reading with a View, Beach Time, and many more. There was a tough decision to be made. All went smoothly, and Interest Groups begin tomorrow!
At the ringing of the bell, Cabins gathered in Council Circle to introduce themselves, find out their tribes, and be officially welcomed into the Miniwanca Community.
Campers headed to their cabins afterward for Cabin Chats and winding down from a busy day.
We are so happy to welcome all the 2 Week, Voyager, and Odyssey campers!
