Today is the day! This silver Michigan morning opened up its skies and let the sun shine through! The sun was just as excited to meet the campers as we were. Boys and Girls Camp staff woke up this morning and had a wonderful breakfast of Wancabread to fuel not only our bodies, but our souls as well. After finishing our last minute touches, we took our positions, eagerly anticipating the campers’ arrival and the beginning of our summer season.
Energy and excitement rushed into camp with the first wave of the Miniwanca Magic that is to come this summer. We welcomed campers who will be staying in our Miniwanca community for one, three, and six weeks!
After a delicious dinner of pasta, garlic bread and roasted broccoli, the youngest members of Boys and Girls Camps rushed to sign up for the Interest Groups classes that they’ll be participating in over this upcoming week. From Glittery Things to Lake Michigan Beach Time to Yoga to Paddle Sports on Stony Lake, the options are endless. Campers then ventured their way down to their separate Council Circles where they learned their Tribal affiliation and performed creative cabin introduction cheers. After Council Circle, we all made our way to the cabins for sweet dreams of what tomorrow has in store.
Our first opening day of the summer was a grand success! We cannot wait for all the memories that will be made this summer!
