We are so excited to welcome campers back to Miniwanca! Since August 5th of 2016, Girls Camp has been quietly waiting for this very day, when hundreds of campers joined us to start off the amazing summer of 2017.

The morning dawned gray and cloudy, and Girls Camp staff members and leaders ate a delicious breakfast of Wanca Bread, sausages, and applesauce to get fueled up and ready for our incoming campers. The road was chalked, last minute touches were finished, and shortly after lunch our first campers arrived!

With palpable excitement, we welcomed our new campers, who will be here with us at Miniwanca for 1, or 3 or 6 weeks! The skies brightened, too, allowing us to have a fun afternoon of getting to know one another and starting to get (re)acquainted with Miniwanca. After a tasty dinner of pasta, garlic bread, and salad, we all headed down to the Council Circle for our Opening Council, and were entertained by delightful cabin cheers and skits.

Our first Opening Day of the summer was a rousing success, and we can’t wait to see what else this awesome summer has in store for us!
