Welcome to week three at Miniwanca!

Even though it is still Saturday, and our third week does not start until tomorrow, today is the unofficial start of week three. We began a new round of Interest Groups this morning and the day was chock full of Sailing, Paddle Sports, Survivor, Climbing, Archery, Ukulele Playing, Sports of All Sorts, Jewelry Making, and more.

We started off the day with a Morning Stretch about Happiness bought to us by our Voyageur campers, who will be starting the long drive up to the Georgian Bay tomorrow morning. With 21 days of wilderness experience ahead of them, the Voyageurs are eager to get started. Each camper spent a moment telling us what make them happy (from Birkenstocks and socks to everyone at camp) and then dared each of us to find what makes us happy as well.

After our morning IGs, a delicious lunch of meatball subs, and Rest Hour, we headed off to Assembly and were treated to the Voyageur leaders pretending to be robots and dancing the flashmob. The crowd was in stitches. One of our 6th grade campers, Letania, sang How Far I’ll Go by Moana, and campers were asked to guess what petrichor, the word of the day, means (it’s that smell after it rains, in case you were wondering too!).

The afternoon sailed by smoothly and quickly and after dinner campers headed back up to the assembly for Lip Sync Battle! Each cabin prepared a dance to a song and we saw lip syncs to everything from Katy Perry and Taylor Swift to Beyonce, the Spice Girls, Queen, and Evanescence. One of the Trailblazer groups crafted some awesome choreography to All the Single Ladies,  and camper Jayla went up against leader Bre in an epic sing off to Beyonce’s Irreplaceable. It was a truly fun Night’s Doings.

We’re looking forward to our Sunday morning sleep in tomorrow as well as the first ever Tribal Cup in the afternoon!
