Getting in the Groove

Boys Camp hit it’s stride on Tuesday! We enjoyed the first fully typical day of the week. All of the campers and staff seemed to settle into the routine, and had the most fun possible.

There were a few moments that stood out above the routine. The very first Tribal Games was held with the Creeks and Sands coming to a draw in kickball, and the Beaches beating the Breakers in soccer. The impressive part were the cheers of “If you had fun you won!” by all players at the end of the games.

We gathered for the first Assembly following rest hour. Assembly is a time in camp where we meet to sing songs, watch silly skits, and hear announcements. The campers were most excited to hear the first Paddle Clue, which will guide them to a small canoe paddle hidden somewhere on camp. The clue for the day was “Near water.”

Our Night’s Doings for the day was Wizards & Lizards. Our staff takes on the role of either a Wizard, who rewards campers for completing challenges, or Lizards, who steal those rewards if they are not singing a protective camp song. It’s a camper favorite, and really helps our new campers get to know the Miniwanca property.

We finished our day with an Evening Reflection led by cabin C6, who provided a great message about the power of positive community. It was a great day to be in Boys Camp!
