The first full day of Boys Camp

Sands 2016

Boys Camp enjoyed the first full day of camp to the fullest! We took the morning to finish setting up our community. We visited the waterfront for swim checks and a boathouse orientation. After that we played game with our age groups, had cabin photos taken, and talked community expectations with Adam.

The Sands Tribe

The highlight of the morning was discovering which tribe all of the campers will be a part of this session. The four tribes, Beaches, Breakers, Creeks, and Sands, are teams that compete throughout the session in a variety of ways to earn their name on the wall in the dining hall. After the big reveal the newly formed tribes gathered to learn names, and start creating cheers.

After lunch all of camp headed to rest hour to escape the heat, and regain some energy for the start of the weeks interest groups. Our afternoon was full with a variety of interest groups from sailing and climbing to Ultimate 4-Square and Poke-crafts.

After a delicious pizza dinner we all gathered in Council Circle for Opening Council, which is the ceremonial beginning to camp. We learned camp traditions and history, and sang some silly songs.

After Council, we journeyed to Evening Reflections at Orwig Chapel. The Boys Camp Coordinator, Will, told a traditional camp story, and challenged camp to enjoy some silence before the loudness of camp begins. It was a peaceful end to a great day in Boys Camp.
