NLC-Z: National Leadership Conference on Zoom!
When | Monday, June 15 to Thursday, June 18 beginning at 10 a.m. (Note: One optional Call to Community/Call to Action on Juneteenth, Friday, June 19, will also be available.)
*All times will be listed in Eastern Standard Time.
Why | While we know we cannot recreate the Conference experience online, this free online program will supplement the work we do each year to allow our community from 2019 to experience meaningful connection and support during summer 2020. Several former NLC staff and mentors have volunteered to facilitate and participate in this new program.
During NLC-Z, our online participants will:
1. Connect with the greater NLC community during a time when a global pandemic prevents us from gathering in person.
2. Develop leadership skills specifically focused on engaging and facilitating in online spaces.
3. Discuss our responsibility as leaders, including anti-racism and social justice work, in pursuit of an equitable community during times of social unrest and during a global crisis like a pandemic.
How | Each day will start a call to community and a gathering of all participants on Zoom. Then, participants can select two or more smaller live group sessions each day. We’ll end each day together on Zoom for Evening Reflection or Night’s Doings. Check out the week’s schedule:
We understand not everyone can commit to five full days of programming; we encourage you to join us for as much as you can. Offline activities will include Healthy Dares, journaling and more.
Who | This program is for those who participated in 2019 Conference. Participants will ideally have access to a reliable Internet connection and ability to participate in Zoom video calls in a space with minimal distractions. They can also call into Zoom from a phone, if needed.
Where | The Zoom link will be emailed to you after completing registration. Reminder: This a free program; there are no tuition or fees required to participate. Registration is due by Sunday, June 14.
